What you see is what you get. Composite boats are handmade by "human beings" and are therefore, seldom without flaw. In addition, no two boats are exactly the same. Each boat varies in weight. Even like colors vary in texture and hue. these imperfections and inconsistencies are to be expected in handmade products, but some are easier to live with than others. You know what the particulars are on the boat in front of you. You'll have to wait and see on special orders. Damage during shipping is also a risk. If damage was done in transport of the boat in front of you, the boat will have been repaired and then discounted appropriately. When the boat is here and now, you can be the judge of the fairness of the discount. If it happens on a special order, it is something yet to be negotiated.


It will cost you less. The boat you see in the store likely came as part of a quantity purchase with lower shipping costs due to economy of scale. We cover shipping costs for you on in stock boats. Special order boats shipped individually cost more, currently as much as $375 per boat. You pay shipping on special order boats.




You get to start paddling right away. Many variables affect the timing of special order composite boats. In season special orders can take months, depending on color choice, special modifications, warehouse stock, time of year and whether or not a container has recently been shipped. The brands you see in our showroom are what we consider to be the makers of the best boats in the world, but most of them are built in small factories in far off places. When you special order,you should be prepared to wait and have reasonable expectations about the end result.
