Prior to taking an instructor certification program you will need to have passed a skills assessment for the level you are trying to certify. SKG offers these assessments and custom tailored sessions to assist you in your best possible outcome. It is possible you may want to schedule some training prior to the IDW and ICE to make sure your skills are properly refined. Please give us a call and we can design the program that will effectively utilize your time and energy..

ACA Leadership Training &  Assessments 

Sea Kayak Georgia offers ACA Leadership Training for individuals and groups who lead others on the water and want to have their skills tested and backed up by leadership awards. Leadership courses can follow your skills training courses. In some cases, you will need to have a skills assessment prior to attending a training and assessment.Leadership awards are for those wanting to test their skills prior to instructor certification. Time and experience on the water through these trainings is of great benefit in skills development.

The purpose of the Level 2: Essentials of Kayak Touring Trip Leader (L2: EKTTL) training is to prepare individuals who intend to lead other paddlers, either recreationally or professionally, in protected waterways. The emphasis of the training is on leadership. The L2: EKTTL training is designed to expose candidates to the skill-set required for leading paddlers in protected waterways. While this is not a teaching award, a L2: EKTTL should also be able to provide basic tips to paddlers, as appropriate, to help them through the environment. This training course is intended to be followed by an assessment course.

The purpose of the Level 3: Coastal Kayaking Trip Leader (L3: CKTL) training is to prepare individuals who intend to lead other paddlers, either recreationally or professionally, in coastal environments. The emphasis of the training is on leadership and group management. The L3: CKTL training exposes an individual to the technical, trip planning, group management and leadership skills required to lead other paddlers in the L3: CKTL venue. While this is not a teaching award, an L3: CKTL should also be able to provide basic tips to paddlers, as appropriate, to help them through the environment. This training course is intended to be followed by an assessment course. A Level 3 Skills Assessment is a prequisite to this training.

The purpose of the Level 4: Open Water Coastal Kayaking Trip Leader (L4: OWCKTL) training is to prepare individuals who intend to lead other paddlers, either recreationally or professionally, in open water and moderate conditions in coastal environments (oceans, bays, large lakes, wide rivers, etc.). The emphasis of the training is on leadership. The L4: OWCKTL training exposes an individual to the technical, trip planning, group management and leadership skills required to lead other paddlers in L4: OWCKTL conditions. While this is not a teaching award, an L4: OWCKTL should also be able to provide basic tips to paddlers, as appropriate, to help them to paddle safely through the environment. This training course is intended to be followed by an assessment course. A Level 4 Skills Assessment is a prequisite to this training.
