Skills Training & Assessments

Passing a skills assessment is often required before taking an Instructor Certification program. We offer custom training sessions to refine your technique and the official assessments needed to advance. Our daily experience on local waters ensures you receive the best possible training to maximize your time and energy.

ACA Leadership Awards

Designed for guides and leaders who want to validate their group management and safety skills. These awards focus on leadership and decision-making rather than teaching.

Level 2: Essentials of Kayak Touring

Prepares individuals to lead paddlers in protected waterways. The focus is on basic leadership and helping the group move safely through calm environments.

Level 3: Coastal Kayaking

Prepares individuals to lead in coastal environments. Focuses on technical planning, group management, and leadership in tidal waters. Prerequisite: Level 3 Skills Assessment.

Level 4: Open Water Coastal Kayaking

Prepares individuals to lead in open water and moderate conditions (oceans, bays, wide rivers). Focuses on advanced planning and management in dynamic water. Prerequisite: Level 4 Skills Assessment.
