Sea Kayak Georgia is thrilled to welcome Nigel Dennis back for our 2026 Ocean Gathering Symposium on Tybee Island and the surrounding waters.
Together with the Sea Kayak Georgia team, Nigel will lead specialized training sessions designed for paddlers ready to advance their skills. The event focuses on advanced stroke refinement in flat water (for those transitioning to dynamic environments) and intermediate-to-advanced rough water training.
Flatwater Focus
Advanced strokes and maneuvers.
Rescues and towing scenarios.
Leadership training.
Goal: Fine-tuning technique to prepare for more difficult paddling environments.
Rough Water Focus
Intermediate and advanced boat control.
Rescues and towing in dynamic water.
Sea kayak surfing.
Intermediate Skill Level and Above Required
This symposium is for paddlers who already possess a solid stroke foundation and a reliable roll, and are ready to work beyond flat water.
For Flatwater Classes: You must have knowledge of basic strokes and experience with capsizes and rescues. You should be looking to refine your technique.
For Rough Water Classes: You must be able to control your boat in rough water and have successfully rolled in an outdoor environment prior to the class.
What to Bring
Appropriate clothing for the conditions of the day.
Helmet (Required for rough water/surf).
Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Food and plenty of water for the day.
Suggested: A thermos with a hot beverage.
Pricing
Course Fee: $400
Event T-Shirts: $45
Plastic Kayak Rental: $65 per day
Fiberglass Kayak Rental: $90 per day

guest coaches, refunds are not possible for any reason. We

Important Note on Scheduling
The schedule is subject to change based on weather and sea conditions. We
ask all participants to come prepared to "go with the flow." Please check
the weather forecast right up until the last minute. October dates on Tybee
are likely to range from very warm to slightly cool.
Food & Hydration
On Water: Plan for food and water for yourself based on the temperatures and your usual daily needs.
Evenings: Paddlers are responsible for the cost of their own meals at our evening get-togethers.
We are thrilled to have Nigel join us again this year to share our waters, meals, and stories. He will be sharing updates on everything that has transpired in the kayaking world over the last few years, as well as introducing new kayak designs.

family-style. The days are action-packed, so we encourage you to come
rested and ready to power through and maximize your time on the water. We
look forward to coming together, catching up, and sharing some incredible
