Sea Kayak Georgia Skills Symposium & Ocean Gathering Oct 24, 25, 26
Nigel Dennis will be joining us again for the 2024 Ocean Gathering
Sea Kayak Georgia will be hosting Nigel Dennis for our 2024 Ocean Gathering symposium on Tybee Island and surrounding waters. Nigel together with Sea Kayak Georgia will be running advanced strokes skills in flat water classes designed for those wanting to move to rougher water and intermediate and above rough water skills training.
The courses offered:
In flatwater: advanced strokes and maneuvers, rescues and towing, leadership training.
In rough water: intermediate and advanced boat control to include sea kayak surfing.
Skill level required to attend:
Intermediate skill level and above.
For the flatwater course you must have knowledge of basic strokes and experienced capsize and rescue. You will be looking to fine tune your technique and move into more difficult paddles.
For the rough water courses, you must be able to control your boat in rough water and have rolled prior to the class in an outside environment.
These courses will be for paddlers who have a good strokes foundation and roll and are ready to work beyond flat water.
Participants will need:
Appropriate clothing for conditions of the day. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, helmets, food and water for the day. Thermos with hot beverage may be nice.

Cost: Courses $100 per day
Event T-shirts $30
Boat Rental: Plastic kayaks cost $160 for all days or a la carte $55 per day. Fiberglass kayaks cost - $90 per day.
Cancellation Policy:
Refunds will be not be possible for any imaginable reason due to the nature of weather and international commitments. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip insurance.

Information for Registered Participants
Schedule subject to weather and conditions changes. Be prepared to go with the flow.
Check weather up until last minute. These dates likely to be very warm to slightly cool.
Plan for food and water for yourself based on temps and usual needs.
Paddlers will be responsible for their own meals at evening get togethers.
Nigel Dennis will be joing us again this year and we are so excited to have him back againto share our waters, get togethers and meals. The days are packed, even so, try to work through being tired and power through everything. Nigel will have lots to share about things that have transpired in the last few years and new kayak designs.
This is a small hometown community gathering and we like to keep it family style. We are looking forward to coming together, catching up and sharing some good paddling!!

Tybee Market IGA is local grocery with Publix on Wilmington Island and Whole Foods in Savannah.
